Visa rules, fees and other policies can change at any time. This article reflects the date shown. Please confirm with the Chinese embassy or consulate, or another official source, before you travel — or simply ask us.

Good preparation is the difference between a smooth treatment and days lost to paperwork. Use this checklist in the weeks before you travel.

Medical documents

  • Recent medical records: diagnosis, doctor's letters, discharge summaries.
  • Test results from the last 3–6 months: blood tests, pathology reports.
  • Imaging files in original format: ask your hospital for the CT, MRI or PET data on a disc or download link (DICOM files), not just photos of the films or the written report.
  • A list of current medicines, with doses — and bring enough for your whole stay.
  • Allergies and past surgeries, written down clearly.

Send copies to us before you travel. We organise and translate them so the Chinese doctors can review your case in advance.

Travel documents

  1. Passport valid for at least 6 months.
  2. Visa or confirmation that you qualify for visa-free entry (see our visa guide).
  3. Hospital appointment or admission confirmation.
  4. Return or onward ticket.
  5. Travel and medical insurance details.

Money and phone

  • Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay with your bank card before you leave.
  • Bring some cash in Chinese yuan.
  • Make sure your phone can roam or buy a local SIM/eSIM on arrival.
  • Note that some foreign apps and websites may not be accessible in China — download what you need in advance.

Personal comfort

  • Comfortable clothes for hospital days and recovery.
  • Any religious or dietary needs you want us to arrange for.
  • A family member or carer, if the treatment involves surgery or a hospital stay.

After treatment

  • Ask for a full set of discharge documents and receipts before you leave the hospital.
  • We translate your records and help you keep in touch with your doctors in China for follow-up.
